Being New In Middle School
Why does everyone think that just because we're kids, we don't have real problems? Do they realize how much harder it is to survive at school than it was in the "old days?" There's only one thing that I can think of that's worse than going to middle school, being new in middle school. Sure at first everyone talks to you and asks you to hang out, but eventually they just want to hang out with their old friends and your "new kid" vibe will disapear. It's kind of a huge let down. In the end, you'll usually discover the other lonely new kids and you start to settle into your new environment. Sure everything works out in the end (usually), but why can't we make new kids feel at home right at the beginning of the school year? Why should they feel akward or like they don't belong for half the year? Most of us aren't overlooking them on purpose, we're simply too cuaght up with our own friends to realize that they don't have any. So how can we do a better job of being welcoming classmates?
